Louie Louie was a hot name in the entertainment industry back in the 1980s and 1990s.

He played Madonna’s love interest in Madonna’s “Borderline” music video, and then went on to land a top 20 hit song of his own, “Sittin’ in the Lap of Luxury” as well as “I Wanna Get Back with You” in 1990.

Louie Louie, whose real name was Louis Edmond Cordero, has died.

He was 63.

His brother, Ray Cordero, shared the news of his death on Facebook.

“An amazing brother, son, friend, partner, musician, producer, band leader,” Ray Cordero wrote. “He left us all too soon. His songs will live on along with such great memories. Viva Heaven my beloved brother.”

Friends and fans were quick to send love and support.

“We are very sad for you and the families loss!” Marbeth Soler replied. “Louie had such an electric personality and he was always so good to his mom! We loved you Louie Louie! Love and prayers to all of you during this very difficult time!”

“Words can’t describe the pain I feel in my heart,” Jeanette Peraza wrote. “You will never be forgotten and you will always have a special place in my heart.”

“Ray, my heart breaks for you and your family,” Samuel Ortegon Pepke wrote. “Please accept my sincerest condolences. Praying for you all.”

Louie Louie released four albums. The first was “The State I’m In” in 1990, and “Dance Love Work” in 2002.

Along with his musical career, Cordero also played “Rick” in “House Party 2” and was in the movie “Kids.”
