50 of the Funniest Tweets from the Week of January 12, 2026

Going into the new year, we’re hoping for some great movies.
Emmy, Oscar, and Golden Globe nominee Jesse Plemons recently said he’d sign on for a sequel to the black comedy/action hit Game Night “in a heartbeat.” Which means it’s officially time for fans to start flooding every Warner Bros. post with the request.
The mid-budget comedy has been slowly dying for over a decade, as Hollywood has grown increasingly reliant on box office returns from international markets that tend to favor the visual spectacle of action and horror films over punchlines that don’t always translate.
Then, in 2018, Game Night, a movie about hyper-competitive party game enthusiasts who get caught up in a criminal conspiracy, became a hit, grossing nearly $120 million on just a $37 million budget. Since then, this kind of comedy film has only grown more scarce.
So here’s hoping we get more films like Game Night in the years ahead.
Also, we’re waiting for some great videogames adaptations into movies or series.
We’re also keeping an eye on video game adaptations, which Hollywood continues to mine with reckless optimism. In 2026, we’re getting a The Sims movie (yes, really), produced by Margot Robbie’s company. Netflix is also taking another swing at Assassin’s Creed, this time as a series. And finally, a live-action Zelda movie is officially in the works, which means the internet has already decided it will either be flawless or completely ruin everyone’s childhood. There is no middle ground.
Meanwhile, we’ve got Twitter. This week’s funniest tweets include the entire cast of Stranger Things, fans doing all the work, and a data center.
