Sonny Barger, founder of Hells Angels, has died at 83.

The iconic biker’s death, reportedly caused by a”brief battle” with cancer, was announced in a statement on his official Facebook page Thursday morning.

“If you are reading this message, you’ll know that I’m gone. I’ve asked that this note be posted immediately after my passing.”

Ralph “Sonny” Barger was born in Modesto, Calif., on Oct. 8, 1938, according to an interview on his official website.

In 1957, Barger founded the Oakland, Calif., Angels chapter and became a legendary public face of the organization.

The Hells Angels, including Barger, faced numerous federal investigations on criminal enterprise and racketeering offenses throughout the years.

Hells Angels in five states were arrested on drugs and weapons charges.

Barger was convicted in 1988 of conspiracy to kill rival club members and blow up their headquarters, The Associated Press reported at the time.

He served five years in federal prison for the charge, according to The Washington Post.

Barger was surrounded by loved ones when he died, including his wife, Zorana, according to the statement.

Aside from riding motorcycles, Barger enjoyed riding and taking care of horses as well, he said in interview.

“I’ve lived a long and good life filled with adventure. And I’ve had the privilege to be part of an amazing club.” “Keep your head up high, stay loyal, remain free, and always value honor.”

Former Trump Staffer Alyssa Farah Says She Led Cassidy Hutchinson to Liz Cheney: ‘That’s How This Shocking Testimony Came About’ (Video)

Former Trump staffer Alyssa Farah revealed Thursday that she was instrumental in this week’s January 6 committee hearing, claiming she directed Cassidy Hutchinson to Liz Cheney for her explosive testimony earlier this week.

During Thursday’s episode of “New Day,” Farah – who resigned from the Trump ad

Jan. 6, which has sought to paint Trump’s potential criminal culpability in the events that led to deadly insurrection. But it was taken before Tuesday’s surprise hearing featuring former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson. Her explosive testimony provided the most compelling evidence yet that the former president could be linked to a federal crime, experts say.

Views on Trump's criminal liability break down predictably along party lines, with 86% of Democrats but only 10% of Republicans saying Trump should be charged with a crime. Among Republicans, 68% say he should not be charged and 21% say they don’t know. Still, the fact that nearly half the country believes he should be prosecuted is a remarkable position for the former president, pointing to the difficulties he could face if he makes another run at the White House in 2024.

For Ella Metze, a South Carolina Democrat, Trump's culpability has been clear from the beginning, when he urged his supporters to march to the Capitol on the morning of Jan. 6 and “fight like hell.”

“It was meant to provoke violence because he kept encouraging them," the 86-year-old told The Associated Press. "As it happened, I watched it all and I just thought why doesn't somebody stop this? Why doesn't he stop this?”

Chris Schloemer, a Texas independent, agreed Trump holds responsibility for egging on the crowd with his baseless claims of election fraud. But, the 61-year-old doesn't lay the blame solely on Trump.

Schloemer feels Republicans in Congress have a hand in what happened that day, too: “I feel like people were afraid of Donald Trump, especially Republican politicians, and so they wouldn’t rein him in, and I think that just emboldened him."

And he's not alone. While views of Trump’s role have not changed since December, Americans are somewhat more likely now than they were then to say Republicans in Congress were significantly responsible for the events of Jan. 6.

Forty-six percent say that now, up slightly from 41% in December. An additional 21% say GOP lawmakers had some responsibility and 30% say they were not responsible. The change in the share saying Republicans in Congress have a large amount of responsibility was driven mostly by Democrats and independents.

Ulysses Bryant, a Democrat from Florida, said while he always believed Trump and the rioters should be charged with a crime, he hadn’t known of the involvement of congressional Republicans until he began to follow the hearings.

Close to 6 in 10 Americans — 56% — say they followed news about the congressional hearings. A smaller but still sizeable share — 42% — say they watched or listened.

The nine-member panel, comprising seven Democrats and two Republicans, has worked around the clock for the past year to investigate the connection between Trump and his allies and the violence and chaos that ensued on the Capitol. The public hearing phase of their investigation is meant to put all of that investigative work on display to the American public in an effort to create a historical record of what occurred.

Seventy-five percent of Democrats and 42% of Republicans say they followed news about the hearings. More Democrats than Republicans also say they tuned in, 58% to 27%. The first of the public hearings, which began in early June, received high ratings for TV viewership, though subsequent hearings have received more modest ratings.

Kathlyn Keller, a retired investment banker from San Francisco, is one of the GOP voters who has tuned into the hearings and still believes Trump holds no responsibility for the events of that day.

The 83-year-old thinks the only people who should be charged are those who brought weapons to the Capitol, or anyone who got into the building and caused damage inside. Trump “absolutely shouldn’t be charged with anything,” she told the AP.

Nonetheless, the committee plans to continue its congressional probe and present new evidence in the coming weeks to its many viewers, including the most important one: Attorney General Merrick Garland. Regardless of public opinion about Trump's likely criminal involvement, lawmakers continue to face a stark reality: While they can investigate Jan. 6 and issue subpoenas to gather information, only the Justice Department can bring criminal charges.

But there are clear signs in recent weeks that the Justice Department appears to be escalating its probe of pro-Trump efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Federal agents on Wednesday seized the cellphone of Trump lawyer John Eastman, who was the architect behind a plan to pressure then-Vice President Mike Pence into rejecting the electoral college results.

Last week, authorities searched the Virginia home of Jeffrey Clark, who was known at the Justice Department to champion Trump’s false claims of election fraud. Agents also served subpoenas to the Republican Party chairmen of Arizona, Nevada and Georgia, three states that went for Democrat Joe Biden and where Trump allies created slates of “alternate electors” intended to subvert the vote. And Republicans in two other states — Michigan and Pennsylvania — disclosed they had been interviewed by the FBI.

Huge Dance Floor Brawl Breaks Out Aboard Carnival Cruise Ship Leading to Coast Guard Escort

Huge Dance Floor Brawl Breaks Out Aboard Carnival Cruise Ship Leading to Coast Guard Escort

Authorities are continuing to investigate after a brawl broke out on a cruise ship early Tuesday morning in New York.

The NYPD told PEOPLE that they were alerted of a dispute aboard the Carnival Magic cruise ship around 5:21 a.m. Tuesday.

The fight took place on the dance floor within a nightclub on the ship, police confirm. At the time, the ship was near the Verrazano Bridge and it is so far unclear if the incident took place within International Waters or will fall within "New Jersey jurisdiction" or "NYPD purview."

"Security onboard the boat attempted to de-escalate the situation and subsequently called for the Coast Guard," the NYPD said. "The Coast Guard escorted the cruise ship to Pier 88, confines of the MTN Precinct. Uniformed personnel and Traffic Agents met the ship and the ship disembarked passengers without further incident."

The fight first began between two people before others joined in and grew in size, the NYPD told PIX 11. The outlet said that according to officials, by the time the fight was broken up anywhere from 40 to 60 people were involved.

Though the NYPD first described the stop as an emergency docking, PIX 11 reported, Carnival said in a statement to the station that the stop was already scheduled.

"The Coast Guard's involvement included a boat crew from USCG Station New York escorting the ship through the New York Harbor . . . after our Vessel Traffic Service received the report of the incident at approximately 4 a.m. Tuesday morning," a representative for the Coast Guard tells PEOPLE. "After that, a boarding team from USCG Sector New York assisted NYPD and CBP with crew processing."

In a statement, Carnival described the incident as an "altercation."

"Last night while Carnival Magic was returning to New York, a number of guests were involved in an altercation in a nightclub. Thankfully no serious injuries were reported and our onboard security team intervened," the statement read. "The ship arrived as scheduled this morning and shoreside law enforcement authorities were notified and met the ship to interview suspects and witnesses and conduct an investigation."

The NYPD said the investigation is ongoing.

Carnival and The U.S. Coast Guard did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

The ship set off on an eight day journey on June 20 stopping in Dominicana, Turks and Caicos and a private island in the Bahamas before turning around and heading back to the Ea

Chinese father breaks down after son he tutored daily for a year scores a 6/100 on math exam

A Chinese father who reportedly tutored his son daily for a year went viral for bursting into tears after his son scored six out of 100 points on a math exam.

The child’s parents from Zhengzhou, Henan Province, received his test score on June 23. Upon learning that their son had only received six points for his final math test, the father burst into tears, as seen in a video posted to Weibo by Qilu Evening News.

“I don’t care anymore, my efforts are wasted, let him struggle by himself!” the father reportedly said.

He can be seen crying in a bedroom and wiping his eyes, while his wife can be heard laughing in the background.

The man purportedly tutored his child until midnight every day for the past year. His disappointment also stems from his son’s inconsistent test results. The child’s scores had ranged from 40-50 points to 80-90 points in previous examinations, according to his mother.

The video went viral on Weibo, with many netizens sympathizing with the father’s parenting struggles. However, others argued that the child’s score was a reflection of the father’s inability to teach math. Some viewers also suggested that the father’s late-night tutoring may have affected his son’s ability to pay attention at school.

“Teaching the child in the middle of the night every day, but the child needs a lot of rest to have a good mental state and perform well,” one commenter said. “The more stressed my daughter was when she was a child, the more unable her brain was to think, so she would be fine to let her play.”

R. Kelly sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking

R. Kelly will go to prison for 30 years for sex trafficking, sexual exploitation of a child, kidnapping and other sex-related crimes. In September, a jury found Kelly guilty on all nine charges: one count of racketeering and eight counts of violating the Mann Act. The singer, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was first accused of having sex with underage girls in the '90s but escaped punishment for almost 30 years.

Judge Ann M. Donnelly handed down the sentence on Wednesday after the court heard statements from Kelly's victims, but, surprisingly, not from the multiplatinum singer. The judge told Kelly "the public has to be protected from behaviors like this," according to the New York Times.

"These crimes were calculated and carefully planned and regularly executed for almost 25 years," Judge Donnelly added. "You taught them that love is enslavement and violence."

Federal prosecutors asked for a sentence of more than 25 years for Kelly, who faced life behind bars. The singer's lawyers were seeking the minimum of 10 years and laid out their arguments for leniency citing his "highly chaotic" childhood home where he was sexually abused.

"Mr. Kelly rejects that’s he's this monster," said his defense lawyer Jennifer Bonjean. Kelly declined to make a statement due to pending litigation.

As seven women gave victim impact statements in court, the "I Believe I Can Fly" singer rarely looked up from the table where he sat.

"With every addition of a new victim, you grew in wickedness," one woman told Kelly, per NYT. "You used your fame and power to groom and coach underage boys and girls for your own sexual gratification."

Kelly reportedly glanced up at her once before quickly looking down. "I pray that God reaches your soul," she declared.

Many of the women were emotional, according to the Chicago Tribune.

During the six-week trial, a jury heard graphic testimony from 11 accusers — nine women and two men — who described sexual and psychological abuse at the hands of the "Ignition" singer. The case hinged on the accounts of six victims, five of whom testified. The sixth, singer Aaliyah, whom Kelly illegally wed when she was 15, died in a plane crash in 2001.
