A trophy hunter, who was permitted to shoot an elephant on a private wildlife area in Namibia known as Farm Mopane, was trampled to death by an elephant from the herd the hunters were tracking. Five trophy hunters—three Namibians and two Argentinians—were hunting Saturday afternoon when the incident took place 43 miles northwest of the small town of Kalkfeld in Namibia's Otjozondjupa region, according to the Journal du Cameroun, The Namibian and Associated Press. An Argentinian hunter was trampled to death by an elephant, while a tourist from Spain died in a road accident on Saturday. Police yesterday identified the hunter as Jose Monzalvez (46). Monzalvez was killed at Farm Mopane, about 70 kilometres north-west of Kalkfeld. According to police, Monzalvez, who had a permit to hunt in Namibia, worked for an oil company. Otjozondjupa regional police spokesperson warrant officer Maureen Mbeha confirmed the incident to Nampa yesterday.
