Oasis Overtakes The Beatles to Score U.K.’s Bestselling Studio Album of All Time
Oasis' 1995 album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? is officially the U.K.'s bestselling studio album of all time, overtaking The Beatles in the process.
As part of the 70th anniversary celebrations for the Official Charts Company, which compiles the U.K.'s weekly albums and songs charts, an updated list of the bestselling albums of all time has been revealed. The refreshed rankings include pure sales and figures from streaming over the past decade.

Two compilations top the overall list: Queen's Greatest Hits remains at No. 1 (7.8 million chart units), followed by ABBA's Gold hits compilation (7.1 million chart units).
Oasis' sophomore album appears at No. 3, making it the highest-ranking studio album on the list. The OCC reports that it has sold 6.2 million chart units since its release, boosted by last summer's Live 25 reunion tour. At the time of its release, it was the second-fastest selling album of all time behind Michael Jackson's Bad.
The Gallagher brothers have enjoyed a chart bump in recent weeks with "Wonderwall" peaking at No. 2 on the U.K. Singles Chart due to its adoption as an unofficial anthem for England's World Cup run.
Adele's 21 comes in at No. 4 on the list (5.7 million chart units), making it the only album released in the 21st century to land inside the top 10. It means that both the Oasis and Adele albums leapfrog The Beatles 1967 opus Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which held the title when the figures were last compiled in 2016; the LP currently boasts 5.6 million chart units.
Classic albums from Fleetwood Mac (Rumours, No. 6), Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon, No. 7), Michael Jackson (Thriller, No. 8), Bob Marley & The Wailers (Legend, No. 9) and Dire Straits (Brothers in Arms, No. 10) round out the top 10.
The most recent album to land inside the top 70 list is Ed Sheeran's 2017 album, Divide, which ends at No. 13 with 4.5 million chart units; it is the U.K.'s most streamed album of the 2010s. His 2014 album Multiply follows at No. 16 and 2011 debut Plus at No. 53.
