  • A driver in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, ignored a "road closed" barrier, drove into freshly poured concrete, and became the subject of internet puns.

A driver in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, decided he didn't feel like reading signs anymore and totaled his car in record time. A removed "road closed" barrier and a trip straight to concrete oblivion did the trick.

The tragic, albeit widely considered hilarious, incident occurred at the I-41/894/US 45 and National Avenue interchange. According to a pun-filled post shared by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WDoT), that's where the driver's weekend plans started to "crack."

The WDoT detailed that a driver, who remains unnamed, probably for his own sake, had decided to physically remove a "road closed" barrier. Set on his destination and showing a complete lack of "solid" judgment, the individual drove right into freshly poured concrete.

A photo of the pickup amid its "sticky" situation was also posted online. And as if the whole situation wasn't humiliating enough in itself, the internet decided to have quite a bit of fun with the stuck driver.

'Karmacrete,' Says Random User Turned Comedian

Random users flooding from Wisconsin and beyond reacted to the WDoT's post. Quite honestly, the government agency knew exactly what they were doing by inserting its comedic prowess into an objectively ridiculous situation.

Some viewers decided to keep things lighthearted by punning like there was no tomorrow. One commented, "That's not concrete, that's karmacrete," earning the cybernauts' respect. Another user commented, "That concrete evidence should hold up in court." Genius.

A third one, probably an award-winning poet, wrote masterfully, "I guess they had concrete evidence proving the perpetrator cemented themselves into a sticky situation." Slow clap and standing ovation.

Other viewers, perhaps with their feet significantly closer to the ground, were glad that the driver, most likely, learned his lesson. One viewer said, "I think he's finding out the rules do apply to him." Another one, potentially predicting the incoming bureaucratic nightmare, wrote, "Explain that to your insurance company."

A Sincere and Jokeless Warning

The WDoT engaged with most of the comments mentioned above. It, however, did give a serious warning about following the rules, hoping that it sticks in the minds of fellow Wisconsinites.

"Crews place barricades and signs for your safety and theirs. Please – never remove or ignore “road closed” or any other types of barriers… or this might happen to you!" the WDoT warned.

While no further information was shared by WDoT or any other agency regarding the incident, the vehicle was, most likely, promptly removed from the concrete. Hopefully, that gave the driver a proper amount of time to reevaluate his life choices and taught him not to take anything for "granite."
