Kylie Jenner shocked Met Gala fans and attendees on Monday with what might be her most bizarre outfit to date.

The 28-year-old wore a flesh-colored Schiaparelli gown featuring a bodysuit with what appeared to be fake nipple imprints.

The makeup mogul left little to the imagination with the head-scratching outfit, which emphasized her shockingly slim waist.

Jenner added an extra confrontational touch by seemingly bleaching her eyebrows before she strutted down the iconic red carpet in New York City, while her boyfriend Timothee Chalamet was nowhere to be seen.

Jenner's ensemble featured a flesh-colored bodysuit – possibly inspired by her sister Kim Kardashian's SKIMS line – that reached up to highlight her prominent cleavage.

It also appeared to show a belly button over her midriff, though it wasn't clear if it was her real one or just a playful imprint.

The bodysuit was cinched at the back like a corset, and bunched up around Jenner's hips was what would have been an elegant cream-colored satin gown decorated with pale pink and lavender beads and embroidery. 

The dress also laced up the back, but it was left undone and bunched up at Jenner's hips, as if she had struggled to fit into it and had simply given up halfway through.

Jenner paired her gown with a set of lustrous beige heels with pointy toes, and she required two attendants behind her to hold her train aloft.

Several fans suggested that Jenner's ensemble simply wasn't original after years of the Kardashian–Jenner clan members going for shock value. 

'Why do I feel like the Kardashians have worn some variant of this look a million times since 2013,' read one post on X.

'I actually like this a lot,' admitted one fan. 'But didn't she wear this in black already in the past?' 

One user thought the corset angle had already been exhausted by the time Jenner tried it out on the Met Gala's red carpet.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, also known as the Met Gala, falls on the first Monday in May every year.

The theme of this year's event - widely considered the Super Bowl of celebrity red carpets - was Costume Art, while the dress code was Fashion Is Art.

The dress code called on the A-list attendees to explore how designers use the human body as a blank canvas. 

Leading the charge was a powerhouse trio of co-chairs, with Beyonce, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams joining forces with Vogue's global editorial director, Anna Wintour, to oversee fashion's biggest night.

It was the first time tennis superstar Williams had co-chaired the gala. Kidman previously co-chaired the star-studded event in 2003 as well as 2005, and Beyonce was an honorary chair in 2013. 

The New York City museum will pair historical and contemporary garments from the Costume Institute for the upcoming exhibition, which will be loosely divided into three categories: the classical and the nude body, aging and pregnant bodies, and the anatomical body.

The exhibit - set to unveil the Met's sprawling new Conde M. Nast Galleries - has been made possible by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sanchez, who are the lead sponsors and honorary co-chairs. 

'The title "Costume Art" refers to the history of the Costume Institute,' Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute's curator, said at a press conference.

Bolton, who selected the theme, said fashion has 'the status of art because of, and not in spite of, its relation to the body.'

French luxury fashion house Yves Saint Laurent is also sponsoring the exhibit.

The 2026 Met Gala also had a host committee that included committee co-chairs Anthony Vaccarello and Zoe Kravitz, along with members Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Angela Bassett, Gwendoline Christie, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor and more. 

Costume Art will run from May 10 through January 10 next year.

The Met Gala is a huge money-maker for the museum and provides the Costume Institute with its main source of funding.  

The 2026 event is the first one since Wintour technically stepped back from one of her famed roles at Vogue. 

Last June, Wintour announced she was stepping down as the editor-in-chief of American Vogue after 37 years.

Now global director for Vogue and global chief content officer at Conde Nast, she hired Chloe Malle as the new head of editorial content.

Wintour has famously been incredibly hands-on with the Met Gala over the years, and is credited with making it the splashy A-list affair it has become, beloved by celebrities like Rihanna, the Kardashians, Blake Lively, Zendaya and more.

Last year, many stars did not attend the Met Gala, and some people thought it was to avoid making a faux pas because of the theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which was centered around the political and aesthetic constructs of black dandyism.
