As she promotes her upcoming film Office Romance, Jennifer Lopez stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! for an appearance on May 27.
After Kimmel brought up the fact that her 18-year-old twins Max and Emme are graduating high school imminently and heading off to college, the multihyphenate entertainer fought back tears.
She admitted to Kimmel that she’d already been “crying for two months” at the thought of being an empty nester.

During a May 27 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Lopez told Kimmel while discussing her twins leaving the nest, “Don’t talk about it—I’ll start crying.” She said that Max and Emme attended different high schools and will also be attending different colleges—and noted that, despite her fame and the commotion it may cause, she “absolutely” plans to help them move into their dorm rooms.

“I mean, it’s fine,” the Office Romance star said. “I want them to be happy. Go where they want to go, do what they want to do.” She added of college move-in, “We’re going to pack up their rooms here, and they’re going to take all the things that they want to take to their dorm.”
“Then they’re going to realize that their dorms are too small,” she continued. “They’re going to miss home. I hope they want to come back real soon.”
The proud mom added, “All year people asked me, ‘They’re going away to college. It’s going to be terrible.’ No, it’s going to be great. I want them to go out there. I want them to do what they want to do. They have big dreams. They have things they want to do. It’s going to be great.”

“And then, like, two months ago, I had to write the thing for the yearbook or whatever the heck thing they make you write,” the entertainer said. “When I tell you, the tears. Two days it took me to write those things.”
Lopez shares the twins with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony. When Max and Emme turned 18 back in February, Lopez wrote a tribute to them that said in part, “‘I love you’ could never encapsulate the depth of feeling, affection, and care that I have for you, my coconuts.”
“It has always been the three of us!” she continued. “We have been on this journey together. We have always had each other to hold on to and be that steady presence in the middle of any snowstorm. And I promise you, my beautiful coconuts, no matter how big you get, that’s how it will always be.”

Elsewhere in her conversation with Kimmel, Lopez—who finalized her divorce from Ben Affleck in early 2025—said she is happily single. “I should have done it sooner!” she told Kimmel of going solo. “I’ve been doing it all wrong. Trust me.”

When Kimmel floated the idea of Lopez becoming the next Bachelorette, she flatly refused. “No,” she said. “Are you crazy? I’m not doing anything to ruin how I feel right now. It’s fantastic. I love it.”
“I’ll meet somebody somewhere one day, if they’re good enough,” Lopez said, adding “I’m good right now. I’m happy.”

In addition to being happily untethered romantically, Lopez has also reportedly moved into her $18 million Los Angeles “dream” house, sharing a glimpse of her Memorial Day celebration at her new home alongside Max, Emme, and a group of her family and friends. “Jennifer is living inside her new property and is thrilled about it because it is like her very own Barbie Dreamhouse,” a source close to Lopez told The Daily Mail.
