Chilling final video of climber feared dead at 23,000ft on mountain with two broken legs
Russian mountaineer Natalia Nagovitsina, 47, has been stuck on Victory Peak in Krgyzstan with a broken leg for nearly two weeks.
A chilling final video of a climber who is feared dead has emerged after she became trapped 23,000ft up a mountain. Russian mountaineer Natalia Nagovitsina, 47, has been stuck on Victory Peak in Krgyzstan with a broken leg for nearly two weeks.
As the Mirror reports, the climber has been left with little food and water and rescue efforts to trace her have now been abandoned.
She became injured on August 12 whilst trekking up the mountain which has a summit height of 24,406ft. Her climbing partner helped her as much as they could before descending back down the mountain to get help.
The well-known climber was seen moving on drone footage as recently as five days ago but horror weather conditions hammered the rescue bid to save her. Temperatures have reportedly now plummeted to minus 23C and experts have said it would be a miracle if she was rescued.
A fellow brave climber tragically died in a bid to save Natalia. Italian climber Luca Sinigaglia, 49, managed to reach her and provided a sleeping bag, tent, food, water and a gas cooker. However they later died on the mountain from prolonged exposure to low oxygen and hypothermia. On Friday, a final effort to climb to her was abandoned just 3,600ft below where she is stuck.
