Actor Michael Madsen's death last week was the result of heart failure, his manager, Ron Smith, has confirmed to Entertainment Weekly.

"The doctor's report is accurate that he died from heart failure," said Smith, referring to a statement that Madsen's cardiologist made to NBC4 Los Angeles. He added that "heart disease and alcoholism" were named as "contributing factors."

Madsen, a star of movies such as Reservoir DogsKill Bill Volume 2, and Thelma & Louise, was found unresponsive at his Malibu home on July 3. He was 67.

The outlet reported that an autopsy won't be conducted, because Madsen's doctor signed off on the ruling, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department considers the case closed. His death was from natural causes and no foul play is suspected.

EW has reached out to the sheriff's department.

Since Madsen died, he has been mourned by many, including Harvey Keitel, who costarred in Reservoir Dogs, which featured Madsen as, perhaps his most famous role, Mr. Blonde.

"We've lost another great American poet," Keitel told the New York Post. "Farewell, my dear friend."

He shared a memory of Madsen in "one of the best scenes I've ever seen on film — of you and Chris Penn fighting in Reservoir Dogs,” Keitel said. “A great love scene. Give Chris a hug for me."
