Chloe Fineman says Elon Musk was the “Saturday Night Live” host who made cast members cry
Fineman said the Tesla CEO made her "burst into tears" during his hosting stint in 2021.
Saturday Night Live cast member Chloe Fineman is rolling her eyes at Elon Musk's recent criticism of the show, revealing that the Tesla CEO was the host who made cast members — including her — cry.
Fineman's costar Bowen Yang revealed over the summer that an unnamed host made multiple cast members cry because he "hated" their ideas. In a now-deleted TikTok posted on Monday, Fineman identified Musk — who hosted back in May 2021 — as said host after he trashed Dana Carvey's impression of him this weekend and said the show has "been dying slowly for years."

Stating that Musk is "clearly watching the show," Fineman said on TikTok, "I’m gonna come out and say that I’m the cast member that he made cry. He’s the host that made someone cry. I saw some articles and stuff and I was like, 'I’m not gonna say anything.' But I’m like, 'No.' If you’re gonna go on your platform and be rude..."
Fineman said Musk made her "burst into tears" after she "stayed up all night" writing a sketch for him, only for him to react poorly to it. "I was so excited, I came in, I asked if you had any questions and you stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like, 'It’s not funny.'" Musk, she said, then "started pawing through my script saying, 'I didn’t laugh. I didn’t laugh one time,'" recalled Fineman.
"Have a little manners here, sir," said the comedian. While Fineman didn't specify which sketch she wrote, she is credited as a writer (along with other cast members) on "The Ooli Show," seen below.

In the post-election episode of SNL, cast members Yang, Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim, Heidi Gardner, Marcello Hernandez, and Colin Jost jokingly pandered to Donald Trump following his presidential election victory over Kamala Harris, claiming that they have supported him "all along." Carvey, who had been impersonating President Joe Biden during the presidential race, debuted an impression of Musk, one of Trump's most vocal supporters, at the end of the sketch.
