I really do not get the whole deli meat thing .....it is meat ground up into a tube ,,,.....growing up we used to eat it....it was cheap and you could put it in bread and as we were kids it was great ....but as you get older ......... you realize ........ it is just salt/fat/ends/bits and bobs /a casing/ some herbs ......cheap shoved in a tube ......i had a friend who worked in a slaughterhouse......... and he would tell me ...it is the bits of the animal .......that are left over.....like blood pudding......... another Scottish delicacy ........growing up ....we would have that for sunday breakfast .........i never really knew what the fuck it was........... till i was older .....you never do .........do you .....as a kid ...... its food ......but it was delish .......same with my granny ...she cooked everything in pig fat !!!! .....lard ..... and used it over....... and over .......and over ....in the same tin on her cooker .....
But nowadays it seems to be different ways who knows why we never died then .......for some reason .....we used to eat fried bread .....fried in lard .......fsih and chips .....chips nearly every day .....but then we were out playing ...... every single night ......bag of chips ........(or as sherman's would say ......sherman tanks...... yanks ....french fries .....we called them chips )......french fries is a sissy name .............. and get filthy and run around ....maybe that is why we lived .....kids now they eat and play video games ......i was never home ......but then ......
Anyways deli meat poisoned ......before i lose my track from one shop ......well maybe one of the employees never cleaned after wiping and .........well you never know .....i guess it sneaked in somehow ...but you know how dirty some fuckers are these day ......they do not care about hygiene .......and they are lazy ...i am just guessing ....this is why i never eat deli meat .....you never know what the fuck it is .......
Two deaths linked to listeria food poisoning from meat sliced at deli counters
At least two people have died and more than two dozen were hospitalized in an outbreak of listeria food poisoning linked to meat sliced at grocery store deli counters, federal health officials said Friday.
At least 28 people in a dozen states have gotten sick, though the largest number, seven, were in New York, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The people who died were from Illinois and New Jersey. Samples were collected from May 29 to July 5 and so far, all of the people known to be part of the outbreak have been hospitalized.
Many of the people in the outbreak reported eating meats that were sliced at grocery store deli counters. So far, there's no information showing that people are getting sick from prepackaged deli meats, the CDC said. People most commonly reported eating deli-sliced turkey, liverwurst and ham, officials said. CDC doesn't have enough information to say which deli meats are the source of the outbreak.
Listeria infections typically cause fever, muscle aches and tiredness and may cause stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions. Symptoms can occur quickly or to up to 10 weeks after eating contaminated food. The infections are especially dangerous for people older than 65, those with weakened immune systems and pregnant people, who can have miscarriages. This outbreak includes people aged 32 to 94, with a median age of 75. One pregnant person got sick, but retained the pregnancy, officials said.
