Nicki Minaj escalates Megan Thee Stallion feud by telling her to 'conjure up' her late mother to 'apologize'... as she reacts to perceived diss about sex offender husband Kenneth Petty
- Nicki, 41, and Megan, 28, previously collaborated on 2019's Hot Girl Summer
- But tensions escalated with Megan's song Hiss and its line about 'Megan's Law'
- Nicki's fans saw the verse as a swipe at her sex offender husband Kenneth Petty
While Nicki, 41, and Megan, 28, had previously collaborated on the 2019 hit Hot Girl Summer, tensions escalated and came to a head with Megan's new song Hiss.
That track features the lyric, 'These hoes don't be mad at Megan / these hoes mad at Megan's Law,' referring to the US law requiring law enforcement to share information about registered sex offenders with the public.
The lyric was a perceived by Nicki's fans as a diss at her husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender and was convicted of attempted rape charges, spending four years in prison.
The lyric may have also been aimed at Minaj's brother, Jelani Maraj, who was convicted in 2017 of predatory sexual assault for the rape of his 11-year-old stepdaughter.
A judge sentenced Maraj to 25 years to life in prison in January 2020, after a 2018 appeal failed.
Now Minaj has fired back in an Instagram live video where she tells Megan to, 'conjure up her mother and apologize' while also bashing her for the Tory Lane shooting.
'You let just everyone be thrown under the bus. You let Da Baby be thrown under the bus, Tory (Lanez), your best friend, your mom. You better go conjure up your mother and say... and apologize,' Minaj said on the IG live session.
Megan's mother, Holly Thomas, passed away in March 2019 from a cancerous brain tumor, and she mentioned her death on Flip Flop from her 2022 album Traumazine.
Megan hasn't commented publicly on Nicki's comments quite yet, though plenty of fans have on social media.
'Nicki is completely losing me, this was real nasty of her,' tweeted X user @4theluvofbria.
@positionsmafia added, 'I can’t believe we saw the day nicki became insecure and bitter,' which launched a lengthy thread.
Some in the thread were defending Nicki, including @Sherrie_coco, who responded to a user who suggested Megan wasn't 'dragging' Nicki' but her 'sex offender husband.'
'That's literally her husband. It's personal to her. Go ignore people who disrespect your family if that's how you were raised. Leave Nicki out of your expectations,' @Sherrie_coco said.
Another fan, @YSLONIKA, joked about Nicki being 'canceled' while showing that Nicki has a song much higher than Megan on the global Spotify charts.
@spinavarit replied, 'But at the end of the day Nicki's husband is still a registered sex offender.'
Another X user @ourcrimsongirl asked for a 'summary of the whole Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion drama,' which @Liana_bro0ke succinctly provided.
'Nicki has been going off for 24 hours, and her go to is that Megan got shot. after siding with people who said she didn't. All because Meg mentioned Megan's law, not even Nicki, but Nicki knows that law applies to her husband and brother, so she feels all the feels!'
X user @ShesFishy suggested the beef started after an Instagram live session with Megan and Nicki, where Megan suggested Nicki should get an abortion if she got pregnant.
'I’m shocked that still nobody caught this.. Nicki been told us this. The beef didn’t stem from “wap”. Nicki was actively trying for a baby and Megan kept trying to encourage her to drink and suggested that she should get an abortion if she was pregnant,' @ShesFishy said.
Minaj quote-retweeted that tweet and added, 'What a disgusting serpant!!!!! Y’all post pardi song under this. They paid to make it disappear . LET’S GOOOOOO lying on your dead mother is insane too. But PARDI said it. #ItWasntMe,' referring to Megan's ex, Pardison Fontaine, who she dated from 2020 to 2023.
