He was first called “Meat Loaf” in eighth grade
Later in the same interview with Oprah, Meat Loaf explained he got the second half of his nickname in the eighth grade, when he stepped on the foot of a coach, who screamed,
“Get off my foot, you hunk of meatloaf!” He reportedly weighed well over 90 kilograms (200 pounds) at the time, so that probably hurt both the stepper and the stepped-on equally.

He saw JFK the day he was assassinated
Conspiracy theory alert: was Meat Loaf the man on the grassy knoll? Not quite, but he did see John F. Kennedy on the day he was assassinated. A 16-year-old Meat Loaf
watched the U.S. President arrive at Love Field in Dallas on November 22, 1963, and after learning he had been shot, drove to Parkland Hospital and saw his wife, Jackie Kennedy, step out of a car with blood all over her. It was naturally a memory that stuck with him his whole life.
