Recently, Reddit user u/Gourmet-Guy posed the question , "Which city are you NOT going to visit ever again and why?" Here are some of the top-voted responses: 1.Marrakesh, Morocco "Only place I’ve ever been that I’ve sworn I’d never go back to. After two days of walking around followed by groups of men and boys trying to touch my wife (who was dressed modestly with legs and shoulders covered), followed by aggression when either she or I voiced our displeasure with this, we gave up trying to sight-see and spent the rest of our vacation in the hotel."

"I had this exact experience. Not safe for solo female travelers. I have traveled all over the world. Morocco ranks dead f*cking last as a place I would visit again."

–u/loudlittle
"The beaches aren't worth the traffic, and the hotels/restaurants/bars are astonishingly pretentious and expensive for how mediocre most of them are."

Ulora / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 3.Cairo, Egypt "I've seen everything I wanted to see there and would never return. Tourists are treated like cattle there by those involved in the tourist trade, much to the embarrassment of the many good Egyptian people who live in the city."
–u/kublakhan1977
"The pollution, the people asking you for money everywhere you go, the mistreatment of animals...I wish I could say that the historical side of the city makes up for it, but nope."

Leonid Andronov / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 4.Bradford, England "It just doesn't have a lot going for it, unfortunately. The sort of place where when people find out you are from out of town, they ask what you are doing there, but not in a sort of cheery, 'Oh, what are you here for?' way, but a 'Seriously, why have you chosen to come here?' way."

Allan Baxter / Getty Images More 5.Hollywood, California "Hollywood, specifically Hollywood Boulevard. It's really janky, the whole town kind of smells, and it's just wholly disappointing."
–u/rancidtuna
"Agreed. Was in Hollywood for about two minutes before I was ready to go. Filthy, boring, and definitely overrated."

Leopatrizi / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 6.Mobile, Alabama "There was a palpable aura of anger and resentment in that town that I'll never forget."
–u/Casual-Notice
Seanpavonephoto / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 7.Dubai, United Arab Emirates "It features so much about what I don't like about humanity. All money and no substance."
–u/zordabo
"It’s a very hollow, empty, and superficial place. You know how in Scarface , Tony Montana had stacks of money and gaudy possessions, but was a miserable dude? That’s the entire vibe of Dubai."

Dedmityay / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 8.Atlantic City, New Jersey "Atlantic City is just bizarre. It feels like a run-down, smallish city, but it's weirdly dotted with glitzy casinos. It's like Vegas and Scranton got drunk one night and made a really strange baby."

Audrey Scripp / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 9.Canberra, Australia "I saw a bit of an ugly drug and angry youth scene that I never dreamt existed in Australia. Couldn't leave the place fast enough."
–u/McMetm
Iiishutter / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 10.Dallas, Texas "Endless subdivisions, strip malls, and megachurches. And the name 'Metroplex' tells you all you need to know about its charm."
–u/AMerrickanGirl
"IMO, Dallas manages to combine all the worst aspects of all of Texas’s major cities in one place."
–u/alphasckcboi
Joe Daniel Price / Getty Images More 11.Manila, the Philippines "Traffic is literally 24 hours a day. It move took me four hours to go 10 miles."
–u/WesleyWishes
"Manila is easily one of the worst cities I've ever been too! The other parts of the Philippines I visited, however, were some of the most spectacular. People should definitely visit the Philippines, just get out of Manila ASAP."
–u/Neat_Consequence4792
Nikada / Getty Images More 12.Las Vegas, Nevada "The crowds, the noise, and the general debauchery were just too much for me."
–u/Interesting_Bet5855
"THANK YOU. I was there for a work conference, and it was just so not my vibe. To be clear, I’m no angel. I enjoy moderate debauchery. My issue with Las Vegas is the wild prices of everything. You are paying NYC prices for a tacky experience. You can get drunk, get ignored by women in the club, and do tons of drugs for a third of the cost in any other major city. Oh, and everyone is allowed to smoke in the casinos, so if you do not smoke, good luck. It’s a sinus infection in day three."

F11photo / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 13.Venice, Italy "It is beautiful. It is unique. I was moved by it. But it is also unnecessarily expensive and surrounded by black waters (they stink!). It's non-practical to get around (you have to walk through the same bridges over and over again to get to different parts of the city). It's on the verge of turning from 'beautiful, old architecture' to 'decaying, unsafe, old architecture.' And it's full of ANNOYING TOURISTS, though I was a tourist myself."

Bluejayphoto / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 14.Kamloops, Canada "It's dirty, and whoever designed their roadways had no idea what they were doing."
–u/CloakandCandle
Peter Olsen Photography / Getty Images More 15.Port-au-Prince, Haiti "Was checking my watch every few minutes, counting down the days and hours until I could leave. It was a scary place where even those who are supposed to protect you are open to attacking/robbing you."
–u/rayrayrayray
"Same. Only time I’ve had bodyguards. Had to sign a waiver that basically said that whatever happened to me if I decided to go somewhere without them was on me. It was so sad. And that was before the 2010 earthquake."
–u/thecoller
Owen Franken / Getty Images More 16.San Francisco, California "I'd like to avoid going back to San Francisco if I can. It just makes me sad now."
–u/DemonicWashcloth
"100% agree. Have visited many times from the '80s to 2010s and will never return voluntarily. So much agony and misery in one place set against so much technology and advantage is grotesque."
–u/ieatmypeaswithhoney
Bluejayphoto / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 17.Nassau, the Bahamas "Absolutely horrible. Place is extremely rundown. Locals don’t leave you alone and don’t take no for an answer. No, I don’t want to buy a wooden flute from the '90s. No, I don’t want to buy sunglasses from China for $80. Idk, maybe I had a bad experience, but I’ll never go back to the Bahamas, or at least Nassau."
–u/rodman666
Poladamonte / Getty Images/iStockphoto More 18.And finally, Austin, Texas "Went some years ago to experience the city and nightlife. I’m a pretty outgoing and friendly guy. I couldn’t get anyone to give me the time of day. I spent a week going to bars, coffee shops, social events, etc. People would just turn away from me when I said hello or attempted to strike up a conversation. One of the least hospitable/friendly places I’ve been in my life. 0/10 would not recommend."
–u/Pop_Tart_Actual
"I grew up in Austin. Somewhere along the way, it went from being a midsized city with a cool, laid back atmosphere to a major city that was cold, corporate, and too crowded. The coolness of Austin went from genuine weirdness, a place where hippies and cowboys coexisted, to a cold, corporate playground for smug tech bros. I miss what the city was, but I’m glad I moved elsewhere."
