Horned Viking 'Shaman' Who Stormed Capitol Now Willing To Testify Against Trump

The Capitol decked out in a fur hat with horns is now willing to testify against his former hero Donald Trump at the former president’s impeachment trial, according to his lawyer.

Jacob Chansley of Arizona, who calls himself the “QAnon Shaman,” feels that he has been “betrayed” by Trump, who failed to pardon him and others who attacked the Capitol, said attorney Al Watkins, The Associated Press reported.

Watkins said in a statement Thursday that Chansley is willing to discuss “whether the words of former President Trump were understood by Mr. Chansley to be nothing short of an invitation to go to the Capitolwith the president to fight like hell,” the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Chansley — also known as Jake Angeli — had been “horrendously smitten” with Trump, and believed he was following the then-president’s orders in the insurrection at the Capitol, Watkins explained.

Watkins said he hasn’t yet spoken to any member in the Senate since announcing his offer Thursday.

Trump’s impeachment trial in the Senate is set to begin the week of Feb. 8. Testimony from someone like Chansley, who believes he was following orders, could be critical in determining if Trump is guilty of the “incitement of insurrection” article of impeachment that was filed against him by the House.

Chansley told investigators he came to the Capitol “at the request of the president that all ‘patriots’ come to D.C. on January 6,” according to court records.

Staunch Trump supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is absolutely opposed to the idea. “I cannot think of a better way to turn the upcoming impeachment trial into a complete circus than to call the QAnon Shaman as a witness on anything,” he tweeted Friday.

Charges dropped against activist who exposed Iowa hog deaths

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Prosecutors have dropped trespassing charges against an activist who helped secretly record Iowa’s largest pork producer using heat to kill thousands of hogs last year as the pandemic devastated the industry.

Matt Johnson, an activist with the group Direct Action Everywhere, had been scheduled to stand trial in Grundy County, Iowa, on Monday on two counts of trespassing at Iowa Select Farms properties in May.

County prosecutors moved to dismiss the charges Thursday at the request of Iowa Select, whose personnel had been subpoenaed but said they didn't wish to testify, court documents show.

“We cannot be distracted by individuals who choose to break the law and grandstand,” Iowa Select spokeswoman Jen Sorenson said Friday.

Johnson was planning a necessity defense, arguing that his actions were lawful because they were the only way to expose the inhumane treatment of animals. He was hoping to draw more attention to the company's use of a method known as ventilation shutdown to cut the size of its herd in May.

Johnson had acknowledged, however, that his defense was likely to fail and that he could face fines or jail time if convicted.

Iowa Select's animals are raised and sent to be slaughtered by Tyson Foods and other meatpackers, and they end up in grocery stores as bacon and pork under several brand names. The company is an influential backer of Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds.

Last spring, some producers said they had no choice but to euthanize hogs after coronavirus outbreaks at meatpacking plants led to closures and production slowdowns. They said they had no markets to sell them and ran out of space to house them.

One of the methods they used to trim herds was ventilation shutdown, which involves stopping airflow inside a facility to raise the temperature high enough to kill animals inside.

American Veterinary Medical Association guidelines say the method should be a last resort after others are ruled out, that it should be done quickly enough to kill 95% of the animals within an hour, and that all must be eventually killed.

Acting on a tip from a whistleblower, a team of activists that included Johnson placed equipment inside an Iowa Select barn and recorded audio of pigs shrieking, some for hours, as the temperature rose and killed many of them.

They also captured video showing workers hours later walking through the pile of animals and shooting those showing signs of life with a bolt gun. Then, they used heavy machinery to remove the carcasses.

Johnson said that his investigation has found some of Iowa Select’s own employees dissented from the practice, a claim he wanted to explore at trial.

“This company knows that the public ... is horrified to learn what ISF is willing to do in the name of profit,” he said. “They’re desperate to conceal their abhorrent and criminal conduct.”

Johnson said that activists snuck in and placed a wireless home security camera in the barn that they could control remotely as well as an audio recorder that they were able to retrieve the next day.

Johnson, an Iowa native who now lives in Berkeley, California, was charged with trespassing after returning to the farm and confronting Iowa Select chief operations officer Noel Williams about the practice. He faced a second trespassing charge related to an incident days later on a different property.

Iowa Select blasted Johnson and other activists at the time, saying they were trying to exploit the coronavirus crisis to advance their agenda. In June, after The Intercept published some of the material captured by activists, the company announced that it had discontinued the practice as the industry rebounded.

“We are cautiously optimistic that we will never again have to face a difficult decision like we had to face last month,” the company said then.

Johnson said that before the practice was exposed, a whistleblower alleged the company had been planning to kill more hogs through ventilation shutdown.

Johnson still faces more serious charges in Wright County, where he is charged with placing recording equipment inside another Iowa Select barn and taking a piglet that he says he rescued from slaughter. He is charged with electronic eavesdropping and third-degree burglary, which are bo

FBI: Capitol Rioter Arrested After She Boasted On Video She Wanted To Shoot Nancy Pelosi

Two women were arrested in Pennsylvania on Friday in connection with the storming of the Capitol after federal authorities said one of them boasted in a selfie video about wanting to shoot House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

“We broke into the Capitol. . . . We got inside, we did our part,” Dawn Bancroft said in the video she sent to her children, according to an FBI affidavit filed with the criminal complaint against the women. “We were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the friggin’ brain, but we didn’t find her.”

Bancroft and her friend, Diana Santos-Smith, who was also captured in the video, face three federal charges, including knowingly entering a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to the complaint against them.

The FBI arrested the Pennsylvania women after receiving a tip about the selfie, said the criminal complaint.

When first questioned by investigators, Santos-Smith initially claimed she and Bancroft never entered the Capitol, according to an affidavit by an FBI agent submitted with the complaint. When confronted with the video, Santos-Smith admitted they did enter, but assumed it was allowed because she “heard people saying, ‘They’re letting us in,’” noted the affidavit. Both women, however, said they entered, and later exited, the Capitol by crawling through a window that had been broken by rioters, the affidavit noted.

Bancroft and Santos-Smith could not immediately be reached for comment. The Bucks County Courier Times reported that Bancroft owns a gym in Plumstead.

Concerns about the safety of members of Congress have rarely been more fraught than in the wake of the storming of the Capitol — and heightened tensions among lawmakers. Pelosi said on Thursday that part of the threat is an “enemy” within the House chamber, referring to colleagues who “want to bring guns on the floor and have threatened violence on other members of Congress.”

Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) announced on Friday that she was moving her office for the “safety” of her staff and herself after an ugly confrontation with controversial QAnon conspiracist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) in a hallway of the Capitol. Greene has “liked” social media posts by others that suggested executing Pelosi, FBI agents and others.

Jessica Simpson has the best reaction to Subway's tuna scandal

Taryn Ryder
·Writer, Yahoo Entertainment

Jessica Simpson just weighed in on Subway’s tuna scandal, and really, it’s the only opinion that matters.

On Friday, Subway defended itself against a “baseless” lawsuit claiming the fast food chain’s tuna is actually “a mixture of various concoctions.” Simpson, whose “chicken of the sea” flub is an iconic moment in reality television history, offered some comforting words.

“It’s OK @Subway,” she tweeted. “It IS confusing.”

It’s been nearly 17 years since Simpson very publicly wondered whether Chicken of the Sea tuna was chicken or tuna. But Subway insists its tuna is really tuna.

A lawsuit filed against the fast food chain last week claimed there is no tuna or fish in its sandwiches or wraps. Instead, the “tuna” is a “mixture of various concoctions that do not constitute tuna, yet have been blended together by defendants to imitate the appearance of tuna,” according to the complaint. The filing is based on an independent analysis that supposedly showed there was no tuna or fish present based on “multiple samples” of the sandwich. Subway is being accused of fraud, intentional misrepresentation and unjust enrichment, among other offenses.

Subway hit back, telling Yahoo Finance in a statement that the company “delivers 100% cooked tuna to its restaurants, which is mixed with mayonnaise and used in freshly made sandwiches, wraps and salads that are served to and enjoyed by our guests.”

Mike Lindell Files $75,000 Libel Lawsuit Over Jane Krakowski Romance Report

Mike Lindell Files $75,000 Libel Lawsuit Over Jane Krakowski Romance Report
Cydney Contreras

My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell is suing The Daily Mailafter the U.K. tabloid claimed he had an affair with 30 Rock actress Jane Krakowski.

On Monday, January 25, the businessman turned outspoken ally of former president Donald Trumpfiled a $75,000 lawsuit against The Daily Mail over their report that he and Krakowski engaged in a "torrid love affair" over the course of 9 months, according to court documents obtained by E! News.

At the time of the article's publication, both he and Krakowski denied having a romantic relationship—or even knowing each other, for that matter.

Lindell's legal representatives note their denials in the court documents, claiming there was a "lack of any reliable factual support" for the U.K. tabloid's claims.

Lindell's lawyers also allege that The Daily Mail was aware the claim was "false," or, at least, "harbored serious doubts about the truth of the claims," and chose to publish the report anyways.

As a result of the article, the My Pillow CEO alleges he's endured "tremendous harm to his personal and professional reputation and prospective economic opportunities, as well as causing him significant humiliation and emotional distress."

Lindell's lawyers emphasize that The Daily Mail's claim that he gifted Krakowski with liquor was particularly harmful, as the businessman is a recovering alcoholic who advocates for those "struggling with addiction."

They further claim that the allegations undermined the CEO's "hard-earned credibility, integrity and character in the field of addiction recovery, as well as in religious communities."

As a result, Lindell asks the court to award him damages of at least $75,000 and an injunction preventing The Daily Mail from ever writing defamatory content about him.

Krakowski previously denied any affiliation with the My Pillow CEO, instead claiming that she was in imaginary relationship with three Hollywood stars.

On Jan. 21, her rep released the following statement to E! News: "Jane has never met Mr. Lindell. She is not and has never been in any relationship with him, romantic or otherwise. She is, however, in full fledged fantasy relationships with Brad PittRegĂ©-Jean Pageand Kermit the Frog and welcomes any and all coverage on thos

Accused Capitol Rioter Apologizes For Threat To Assassinate Rep. Ocasio-Cortez

David Moye
·Reporter, HuffPost

A Texas man facing federal charges linked to the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol is apologizing for taking part in the storming of the Capitol and for threatening Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a Capitol Police officer.

Garret Miller released a statement on Monday through his attorney claiming that he stormed the Capitol after becoming convinced by Donald Trump’selection fraud lies. The 34-year-old Miller had previously tweeted “Assassinate AOC” and threatened a Capitol Police officer who fatally shot a fellow rioter.

“I am ashamed of my comments,” Miller’s statement read. “I was in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, because I believed I was following the instructions of former President Trump and he was my president and the commander-in-chief. His statements also had me believing the election was stolen from him.”

“Nevertheless, I fully recognize Joe Biden is now the President of the United States and that the election is over. Donald Trump is no longer president and I would not have any reason to continue to follow his lead.”

As for his threats against the officer and the New York lawmaker, Miller said: “While I never intended to harm Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez nor harm any members of the Capitol police force, I recognize that my social media posts were completely inappropriate.”

“I want to publicly apologize to Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez and the Capitol police officers. I have always supported law enforcement and I am ashamed by my comments,” he added.

During an Instagram Live last week, Ocasio-Cortez said that a “close encounter” led her to fear she was “going to die” during the insurrection. It is not clear if the person she was referring to was Miller. As of Monday evening, she hadn’t commented on Miller’s apology.

Miller was arrested last Wednesday and charged with four counts including violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

In his statement, he said he was not armed when he entered the Capitol and that he stayed in the rotunda. He claimed he went back to Texas after “President Trump asked us to go home.”

Miller said he had never been very interested in politics until recently, but that Trump’s election fraud accusations “really got to me and I felt I had to support him.”

However, he also said he is “solely responsible” for his actions and that “there are no excuses for what I did” before offering to testify at any trial or congressional proceeding.
